Sorghum & Spear - Book One

Ok, one last stretch goal...

Good day everyone,

I've been thinking of how to send off our campaign in the most positive light in consideration of the Love and Support everyone has shown us, and I wanted to share this idea with our current backers and leave something for those joining us in the last few hours to help us strive for.

Let's truly change and empower a child's life through education.

In partnership with Project: Have Hope, we have a special opportunity to pay for a child's school tuition for an entire year for around $600-1000.  We are just over $6,000 with our campaign now.  If we can get enough new pledges and pledge increases to reach a goal of $7,000, my studio teammates and I will pay for a year's worth of school for one of their sponsor children. 

No need to chase another piece of art, a special sticker, or anything like that.  We'll just do it. 

Check out how Project Have Hope makes this possible and let's make this project ending a special one for someone special.  This kind of impact is truly the magic our world needs.

Thank you so very much everyone!

What an amazing run we had these past few days!  I can't express how amazed I am at each and every one of you who pledged and stood with us to make SORGHUM & SPEAR a reality.  When you are creating something, it's a hard to share something so personal and not have some apprehension about how it will be taken.  It's a great feeling to know that you have the capacity to make something that means as much to someone else as it does to you.  Again, I appreciate you all.

So now what?

A couple of quick things as we work to make heads and tails of our next steps with a successful Kickstarter:

Art prints will be selectable for each tier, and we have some art prints still being finished. To be fair, we'll launch the selection emails once we have everyone's final artwork and let you choose what you'd like.  We will share what we have via email with everyone of course.

The Sanford Greene Variant Book will also be an available add-on as well, since we couldn't procure final art before we closed.  We will in general try to make everything an add-on as we work out a finalized setup for rewards.

Shipping will need to be updated with Kickstarter physical tiers as I'm not sure how they show on the pledge end.  We got our support email at 7:20pm that our update now to our shipping costs now won't apply since we are funded and ended.   We're going to keep it simple at $8 for all physical shipping in the US for all tiers to avoid confusion when we implement our backer update if we need to update from there.  Obviously, International shipping will be done case-by-case.

Even though we didn't make our stretch goal at $7,000, we will still do our part and donate on behalf of everyone who backed up towards the Tuition endeavor we launched. A great place

8 Amazing Days Left!

We have one big week +1 day left to make our Kickstarter truly special!

So where to begin?  How about THANK YOU again for your Love and Support of the Sorghum & Spear Kickstarter campaign!  It's great to be funded, but at 114% with eight days left, we absolutely are privileged to have great supporters like YOU on board.  It is greatly appreciated and is the motivation we thrive on to make this project and Greene County Creative in general something special.

Now, on to new news!

So, today we are officially adding SANFORD GREENE to our project!  Once getting fully funded, we've worked hard to get a comic industry perspective to join our studio team in showcasing the creative platform that SORGHUM AND SPEAR can truly become.  We cannot overstate how HUGE it is to have someone of his stature working on our first book!

For those who don't know him, you assuredly have seen his work.  Currently the artist on Marvel's Power Man & Iron Fist, he also has been the go-to variant cover artist on the current run of Black Panther.  From Marvel & DC, collaborations Method Man, and his own creator works such as Rotten Apple, his art has touched every part of the comic book sphere, and we are privileged to have him grace us with his talent on a special variant edition of our book, available NOW under our Kickstarter.  Check out more of his newest Marvel work by clicking here.

While the final product will be revealed post-campaign, we can assure you that at this level of talent, something amazing is well in hand!  I suggest checking out the Sanford Greene Variant Tier on our Kickstarter and upgrading to this book TODAY!

48+ hours to go! What's up next?

Thanks everyone for your support so far!  To be just two days away from the end seems very surreal, and we are glad to have you on board with us!  So, with 48 hours, we are all about adding more art as we   In a good way,  we have been getting the attention of some industry artists and new connections, which has been amazing and reinforces the good work and message our, but moving in time with our humble Kickstarter has been a lesson in patience for our crew.  Still, let's look at some of the cool things going on still!

We're updating our Facebook and Instagram with this image from our cover artist Welinthon Nommo of Marlannah aka Rapsody with a midday update of our Griot keeping her blades and melodies quick:

The amazing artist GDBee is also doing a print for us, here was the first sketch she provided for a Namazzi piece.  Follow more of her amazing art here as we hope to get a finished print to add into our cataloge for this campaign.

Another great poster will be added shortly once released as a Chocolate City Comics exclusive from our concept artist Kassandra Vasques with a great portrayal of the girl's fighting the Blood Hand goblins of the Mount Juleh.  Yes, we will make this a selectable poster as well for our art tiers!

And of course, we are making a difference by increasing our support of Project Have Hope with each active pledge tier, and also a general donation on behalf of our team once we are fully funded.  I'm happy we have so many supporters of this endeavor and that we can all look back at this campaign and know a real-world difference was made!
