The time has come. We have our Digital Copy of Sorghum & Spear: Simadan ready for distribution.
Sorghum & Spear Pages are Done!
So today, you will get your digital PDF copy to read! Use the password ALLMOTHER to unlock your copy.
I resent an update to our BackerKit to remind everyone to make sure you have submitted your responses, updated any shipping and confirmed email addressed. We are rushing to print tomorrow, and excited to get this goodness in your hands!
Thanks to our Letter Extraordinaire Saida Temofonte who worked with me through New Year's Eve into the New Year to complete our formatting and final edits to make this happen
2017 was an amazingly creative year for our team. With our Kickstarter's success came a lot of attention, frustration, setbacks, lessons learned and opportunities to come as a First Timer. I, along with a couple other talented creators; writer Robert Jeffrey II and creator/cosplayer/ TaLynn Kel, just launched a creator-centric podcast called NEW WAKANDA in which we discuss the ups and downs of the Creative Journey. It's become a great avenue for us to express the emotion that goes into these type of projects. Feel free to take a listen here, as I do reflect on this project quite a bit.
So we are rushing to the printer tomorrow, and I am heck-bent on getting mailings in January, as we are already sitting on work for the next book in the series, with art and writing already in play for a much more streamlined Kickstarter to be launched in 2018.
You deserved the best for your love and support, and I can say that our team has done all I can ask to exceed your expectations. I appreciate everyone who has helped me get to this point, and know the real journey is about to be in just a few hours. Thank YOU for your company along the way.

Good morning Sorghum & Spear Faithful!
Simadan is almost here!
Page One
It has been much longer than I anticipated to give you an update on our progress, and my apologies for that delay, but I wanted to be able to say we had a firm handle on everything before I sent another one of these out. I'm happy to say that we do, and I am expecting a finished Digital Product in the next couple of days. And from there, Shipping of our rewards!
We are finalizing page work today, with the last 3 pages received from our colorist Omi Remalante (who has been on FIRE this summer with the Game Of Thrones comic, and now Dynamite Comic's Hitman 47 comic as well) this morning, and we are now ready to close up shop.
Tim Geathers on Pen & Inks
22 glorious pieces of art that just need some letters from Saida (who was called up to DC Comics and is continuing her great work with Lion Forge Comics as well) and we will have our Digital copy to share, and immediately to go to print and send everything out as fast as possible.
Lettering Review Example
As a creator, I think the work is something worthy of the wait. Having top-tier talent like Saida, Omi and Sanford helping on our first book has been a boon, but has also met with the reality that an increase in their more prominent work has lead to delays as their professional careers has been progressing forward this year. As independent artists, that has been great news, and has made delays go much longer than anticipated. It has been a constant weight on me, as a huge supporter of the Kickstarter the LAST thing I wanted was to not be on schedule with this project. Still, I have learned much that will help the continuation of this endeavor be the best it can, and me grow more as a creator. But most of all, your patience in letting me craft something the right way is ending up better than expected.
I think most everyone has a Digital Copy of the book in their Tier, but if you do not, you assuredly will be getting it as well to showcase what we have been doing. Only a handful of people need to update their Backer Kit, which is still active, so as you can, please review it.
Posters are done, and the final of Mr. Greene's variant is on it's way, a call today should have it en route and I will surely share that marvel as soon as possible.
You have been so patient, and want your satisfaction with this and the next book to come in March (yes, we are already working ahead on this) and with the scheduling and infrastructure to create now set, have learned some valuable lessons that will make it even better. I Thank YOU personally for your love and support of Sorghum & Spear! Anything specific of me, please feel free to email me at [email protected] for prompt response. Blessings to you all!
Best,
Dedren Snead

Odari of the City Guard
Good day Sorghum & Spear Faithful!
It seems so long between updates, as what is always a few days of work to finalize comes and goes so quickly, but we are not without progress! So, we had our final book art, but wanted to add a couple of extra pages from Tim Geathers to offer a glimpse into what is happening outside Marduri village with a 3 page glimpse just beyond the city of Silk and Stone, the holy city of Ngolo'Ade. We will meet two recurring characters with a history between them, Odari the City Guard and Kumara the Feaster earlier at the end of this book. They represent two very different sides of opinion on the events the Forever War has brought upon their lives, and will be a constant perspective within our series.
Kumara - Geathers Sketch
I'll leave our BackerKit open through November, if only to give more time for proper updates on any questions as we get the final proofs of the book, as well as the Sanford Greene Variant and the mock-up for Marlannah's Hand Journal in our hands. All other items are as they are displayed. I'll also resend the responses for those who haven't yet updated, which we stand at 78% response so far. It is appreciated!
The book definitely is better with some great editors stepping in before final print and offering to assist with our revisions. One such talent is author/editor John McGuire, who just so happens to have a great Kickstarter of his fantastic comic series THE GILDED AGE, running as we speak. Already a couple of issues deep, the collection of the first Graphic Novel deserves your support. Take a moment and check it out!

As always, I appreciate your love and support of Sorghum & Spear and our humble team here at Greene County Creative. I look forward to sharing this special work with you soon. Any questions or concerns, as always, feel free to reach out. Thank you!
