Good day Sorghum & Spear Faithful!
It's great to see so many of you enjoying SORGHUM & SPEAR in the real world! I am thankful for your kind notes and encouragement in finally closing the Kickstarter. There are a few non-responders out there and should be less than 10 people who recently updated that we have to ship to. If you haven't gotten your package by now, please send an email to [email protected] that we may review your order.
A few new updates:
We finally have our hi-res comic PDF copy completed and will send our updated digital rewards out on Thursday. We have been quite open with BackerKit, and have to finally close it on that day to complete this campaign. I appreciate everyone's patience and look to get these goodies to you as soon as possible.
We met with the legendary SANFORD GREENE at HeroesCon 2018 as we finalized his variant cover for the Kickstarter. You know him from BLACK PANTHER, POWER MAN & IRON FIST, and his own project BITTER ROOT, so it is a privilege to have him on this project.
The mighty Sanford Greene on our Variant Cover
As we noted before, instead of another rendition of our current characters, he blessed us with a whole new crew of characters that were so special, we had to make them canon. Behold!
Variant Cover by SANFORD GREENE!
So with a limited run, I'll be sending these over to print this week as well and get those out to the lucky backers that got this.
The Marlannah Hand Journal/World Guide is in final editing, and should also be sent separately to our awaiting backers as that will close this campaign!
The radio silence in June was deafening, but with good reason! We have been working diligently to expand the reach and resonance of this project, and we have a special announcement we will share on Friday with you, but since this has already been making the rounds...
SORGHUM & SPEAR Graphic Novel Campaign is coming!
Given the great response to this series and a special opportunity we have been given, we have to keep the momentum going! We will announce our intent to launch another Kickstarter for a full graphic novel for Sorghum & Spear later July 2018. The script is running its course and we have some very special artists and talents lined up to make the Eternal Realm all that it can be. It would not exist without your Love and Support, so we wanted to let you know first and foremost that our next step is only a moment away! I appreciate your considerations to keep our story going. Until then, please enjoy and again many Thanks!
Best,

Good day SORGHUM & SPEAR FAITHFUL!
Shipping of our book and artwork is in full swing!
Thanks to these ladies, shipping is well underway!
Yes, the bulk of our books of SORGHUM & SPEAR went out midweek, with our Book + Art Print orders shipping today and over the weekend in larger, protected envelopes. We have taken great care that your rewards are trackable and protected, with us absorbing the extra expense. I personally appreciate your patience as this is finally happening!
The Harvest is on its way!
Only two rewards are currently in final production, and we expect those in the next two weeks and will be shipped separately to any back at no additional cost. Those two are the MARLANNAH HAND JOURNAL (Final Edit Revision with Local Print & Ship) and the SANFORD GREENE VARIANT (Art Complete, Limited Print Run pending). On the Greene Variant cover, I'll send a picture of the final artwork to those who have it as a reward for your early perusal. Honestly, it was so amazing, we had to rewrite our Graphic Novel to accommodate this amazing piece! I can't wait to share it with everyone!
It started like this, but then....WOW!!
So, yes, we have a lot going on with our project in the best of ways! So what is next for SORGHUM & SPEAR!
Today the 18th, we find out the results of our SIX GLYPH AWARDS nomination with the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, which is going on this weekend! If you are in the area, please take time to attend this amazing weekend event!
We were nominated for SIX Glpyh Awards! **Fingers Crossed **
And we will have some HUGE NEWS to share as we finalize this project, and go straight into our next chapter of the SORGHUM & SPEAR graphic novel with a July 2018 Kickstarter to keep the storyline going! Thank you as always for your love and support of SORGHUM & SPEAR!
Best,

Good morning SORGHUM & SPEAR faithful!
The SEEDS OF CHANGE are blooming!
Balcony Plants in Uganda
As our update from Project Have Hope and our collective partnership:
"Project Have Hope improves the agricultural condition in Uganda with the help of local women. We focus on three aspects of agriculture and implementing new elements into local community: the balcony gardens, the greenhouse, and the mushroom house. We do not only create new opportunities in agriculture, but also bring employment opportunities to local families and improve the environment. Project Have Hope cooperated with Uganda Rural Development to organize local women to work on balcony gardens. The main greens we plant include spinach, onions, sukumawiki (a green similar to cabbage), and occasionally, carrots, nakati (a cross between a tomato and an eggplant), dodo (also known as amaranth), and okra. Each female worker is trained before coming to the farm and earns an income of approximately US$17 per week afterwards. In addition, fresh vegetables are provided and kids can help occasionally. It is a very beneficial program for locals as it increases employment and regular green food is guaranteed."
So this is the first update of our Social Responsibility portion of our project, where we want change beyond the pages of our book to influence the world around us for better. There is an ongoing theme of planting, nourishment, and harvest with this endeavor for our characters, ou creative family, and our loyal supporters. This is why our company logo for GREENE COUNTY CREATIVE is a Giving Tree, as we want to give thanks and give back with each project we craft. Thanks to YOU, we were able to give something back to the artistic and entrepeneural women of the Ancholi quarter in Unganda that will blossom into something greater than ourselves.
A harvest will soon come!
To update on Kickstarter fulfillment, we have our supplies and will be working on it during our residence at Challenges Games & Comics during Free Comic Book Day, where we will have our books and art prints available. If you are in the Greater Atlanta area and want to pick up your items in person, please feel free to reach out. We still have our original BackerKit open, with about 30 people still unassigned. Please review as we have to have a final close to send our digital rewards to everyone. We will send one more notice, and next week look to finalize.

With that, our goal is to satisfy you with some amazing work, and more good news to come. We could not do it with each and every one of you.
So, as always, Thank YOU in advance for your LOVE and SUPPORT of SORGHUM & SPEAR!
